White Lights City Film Festival Kicks Off with National Recording Artist Jack Dempsey
For three days in October, Fremont will transform into a haven for both filmmakers and film enthusiasts with the 3rd Annual White Lights City Film Festival, which honors local talent while drawing filmmakers who have made an impact on the national stage. This year’s event is of particular interest to Los Angeles-based recording artist Jack Dempsey, due to his personal relationship with one of the weekend’s honorees, Cale Ferrin.
Ferrin, a talented young actor from Omaha, has appeared in commercials, on Nickelodeon and in feature films. His inspirational journey in his fight against Fanconi Anemia, a rare bone marrow disease, has sparked a friendship with Dempsey, an accomplished journalist and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and documentary director. Dempsey will perform his song “He Makes Me Happy,” from the video in which Ferrin stars, at the Cale Ferrin Honorary Award Dinner in Fremont on Friday, Oct. 7 at the Fremont Golf Club.
Film Festival organizer and CEO of Digg Site Productions Stacy Heatherly is delighted with the addition of Dempsey to this weekend’s line-up.
“Not only am I thrilled to once again welcome the film community to the city of Fremont,” said Heatherly. “I’m also honored that Jack is willing to donate his talents to support our organization. There is a desire in Fremont, and throughout Nebraska, to support our local artists and film professionals. And the incredible talents that will be on display this year stand as proof that this support for film production is extraordinarily well-placed.”
